Golden Energy Computing Organization
Faculty/PI Proposals for Allocations on Ra
The Golden Energy Computing Organization (GECO) invites CSM faculty and associated research groups to submit proposals for use of the high performance computing (HPC) cluster, Ra. This Mines platform is dedicated to discovering new ways of meeting the energy needs of our society and is supported by the school in order to advance energy science research.
Ra is a Linux cluster composed of 2144 Intel cores (268 nodes of 8 cores each), an Infiniband fabric, and 300 TB of disk space. The machine is rated at 23 TF (17 TF sustained). The intended use of the machine is for large, parallel processing jobs using the message passing interface (MPI). Both Intel and PGI compiler suites are supported with PGI and DDT parallel debuggers.
GECO supports a website that includes an extensive help section to get new users started: http://geco.mines.edu/guide.html. GECO will be offering a one-week, half day, training course that new users are encouraged to attend. Single day quick start courses will also be offered for those familiar with working on parallel systems. GECO staff will also help users to install their software and get them up and running. However, users are responsible for the licensing of any commercial software that they require. Ra is not intended for single-node applications, and prospective users should be looking for a large-scale parallel environment to help advance their research agenda.
Proposals can be submitted using the form below.
